I bought a half decent Norelco shaver 14 years ago and a Groomsman beard trimmer 9 years ago. By some form of divine intervention, they both died within 48 hours of each other 2 weeks ago. I need to go out and get new toys. I have no idea what is out on the market and no idea what the stuff costs anymore. What does everyone use, and is does it work well or just work? I hear that some of the new hot ticket items are well over 100$ Could such a thing be worth that kind of cash or are there more modest types that work just as well?

Does anyone get consumer reports magazine or an equivalent that has weighed in on the subject?

I just use a double blade razor. I've never been able to use electric razors. Beards too thick. I don't like those triple blade razors either, and now they have quadruple blade

I use a double blade razor most of the time. I have to use a proper beard hacker when I get slack-assed and let it get more than a week old. Razors wont hack it down.

I've been using a regular Norelco Lift-and-cut for as long as I've been shaving. I just replace the heads once a year or so and I'm good to go. My current shaver dates back to 1997 or 1998 if I remember right.
