and select Scheduled Tasks. Double-click the Windows Critical Update
Notification icon in the list of scheduled tasks. Make sure the Enabled box at the

The server list is not visible, or it is not possible to connect to the Tribes Master
Server.
This issue is resolved by the Tribes patch. Download the appropriate patch
from the Sierra Web site at
http://www.sierra.com/support/technical/updates/main.html and install the patch.
If the patch fails to resolve the issue, the inability to either see the server list or
connect to the Master Server is usually the result of a firewall or proxy server
blocking outgoing information.
To check for the presence of a firewall:
- Click the Start button on the taskbar.
- Go to Programs and select MS-DOS Prompt.
- At the C:\WINDOWS prompt, type PING TRIBES.DYNAMIX.COM and press the
ENTER key on the keyboard.
If no ping times appear, or an Invalid IP address error appears, the outgoing signals
are being blocked. In this case, it will be necessary to contact the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) to resolve the issue.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When playing Tribes through a proxy server, cannot see the Master Server.
When connecting through a proxy server, the Master Server may not be visible.
It is possible to disable the proxy server and allow normal Tribes play.
It is recommended that the Internet Service Provider be contacted for
information and assistance with the matter.

When using Windows NT the game will not start properly.
Windows NT requires Service Pack 3 to run Tribes.
The Windows NT service pack can be found on Microsoft's web site.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OpenGL 3D hardware acceleration is not available in Tribes.
Currently there is no support provided within Tribes for OpenGL. The only 3D
accelerator mode supported is Glide, which requires a 3Dfx brand card. OpenGL
support may be added in a future update. Information about future plans and
support can be found at http://www.tribesplayers.com.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An error in GDI32.DLL error appears when trying to launch Tribes.
This error is likely caused by the presence of old video drivers on the system.
To resolve this, download and install the latest available drivers for all video cards
on the system.
In addition, if a Voodoo 2 3Dfx accelerator is currently installed on the system,
it will be necessary to clear any old drivers from the system. To do this, access
the Voodoo2 control panel in the Display Properties section of the Control Panel.
Click the Glide Sweep or Utility button and follow the instructions for removing old
Glide drivers.
If a 3Dfx accelerator card was on on the system but has been removed, it will be
necessary to disable any previous Glide drivers. To do this, find the
GLIDE2X.DLL and GLIDE3X.DLL files and rename them with a .OLD extension
instead of .DLL.
Restart the computer and launch Tribes again.
