1) Check your oil. Sometimes this happens when you're low enough to damage the engine.

2) If it ain't that, it's most likely part of the emissions system or the OBD computer. Mechanic time!

it could be something simple like not having your gas cap tight enough, the only way to find out is to have the computer scanned to find out why the light went on.

Yeah, I "love" that new "feature" where not getting the gas cap on tight enough makes the check engine light turn on... and it takes a few tankfuls of gas before it turns itself off again.
