Convicted Ohio lawmaker to run again

Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, was convicted last month on bribery, racketeering and tax evasion charges. But he doesn't plan to let that stop him from seeking re-election, even against another Democrat.
Traficant is expected to file petitions today to run for a 10th term this fall as an independent. That could trigger a call for his immediate expulsion from Congress. It also could have long-term implications for Democrats' effort to win back control of the House.
Traficant, 61 on Wednesday, remains popular in his district though a federal jury found him guilty of shaking down constituents for favors and forcing staff members to kick back portions of their salaries. He plans to appeal.
