Three men go to a hotel and the clerk tells them $30 for the night. Each puts up his $10 and they get a room. A short time later, the clerk decides he should have given them a discount so he gives the bellhop $5 with directions to return it to the three men. The bellhop carries out his deed but the men can't easily figure out how to divide the $5 evenly. So they decide to each take $1 and give the bellhop the remaining $2 as a tip. Now, each man is out $9 plus the $2 that they gave the bellhop. But 3 X 9=27. If you add the $2 that they gave the bellhop, it comes to $29. Where did the other dollar go?
