Memory Added ??

I had 512 in my machine and was going to upgrade another and bought another 256 for this one to max it out at 768 like it shows in my manual I can do but it is till reading only 512 what is wrong? I took all three out once again one by one and made sure when I reinstalled them they were seated properly and the tabs were clicked close so any ideas,

Are all thre sticks the same, speed wise, and
are all double sided, or single sided, or what?
Brand?
Speed?
Motherboard?

Motherboard is an Abit BE6 II rev that has been flashe to accept my 1000MHz chip.

The memory is PNY PC133 3 256's all 3

Just heard win 98se will only recognize 512??

That's true. 512 is a max for 98.

Is it just 98 not recognising the extra? Or the motherboard?
