From Mandrake 7 to 8, it seems KDE has gotten quite a bit
better. So I decided to take another stab at it.

About floppies...

I can format them, mount them, but I can't get it to un mount
them.
On the desktop icon, right click context menu there is always
a mount option, but no umount option.
I tried the command line "unmount /mnt/floppy" but it still
won't unmount. I have to restart just to format, once I've
browsed the floppy to see what's on it.

I log in as administrator. I think I've got the permissions set right.
I even tried logging in as root, but it does the same thing.

How can I unmount a damn floppy?

it's not unmount. It is simply umount with no "n".

Like this 'umount /mnt/floppy' or 'umount /dev/fd0'

Peace...
