Is it worth buying a gaming notebook?

My dilemma is buying a cheaper note and wait for a new desktop next year or going mobility right now. What are you guys using these days?

Phones mostly. I've lost track of the trends of late, but the advantage of a desktop over laptop for gaming always came down to heat/performance. Laptops are just too tightly built to allow sufficient heat dumping required for performance gaming.

Like Prof said, a laptop will never beat out a desktop, but they're ultra portable. I just wish I waited for the 17" model :(

17" isn't exactly what I call ultra portable.

I had a great set up with my old work laptop. Thinkpad R-52, maxed out. With a docking station, and the dock had a secondary PCI video card and three screens. Definitely the cat's meow. Can't get the same to work with my newer T500 tho. Still rocking 2 screens at least. Miss the third.

Sounds like toting around a frikin Buick to me. But then I don't bench press triple digits either. Or double digits. Hell ... I'd have trouble bench pressing a pencil.
