it may put a non-recoverable error into the game. the last strike caused a huge loss of attendance & this may be the straw that breaks the camels back. overpaid athletes (avg-$2,000,000) and even more overpaid owners while the typical fan is shelling out more & more each year & getting less & less true performance. I see 2003 with NO MLB baseball & possibly 2004 before a settlement. by that time the fan will have moved on. MLS needs to do a huge PR push, maybe they can take a few hundred thousand fans away.

They'll do it, though. Too much cash floating around for anything else to happen.

I love baseball but I haven't watched very much this season....been too busy doin other things. If they strike, I may forget MLB ever existed.
 
after their strike years ago(early 90's). I quit watching and going to games. I was finally comming around to watching and keeping up with a few of the players. BUT if they do it again. Forget it. I claimed back then they were more concearned about money than anything. and decided that my money was better used elsewhere.
 
I was at the Yanks-Bosox game last week. Great game, playoff atmosphere, crowd was pretty evenly split 50/50 going back and forth. That is what baseball can do right.

If they go on strike, they'll lose the fans probably for good. Plus, what's with the $4.00 20oz coke??? :cuss:

The only thing baseball's good at lately is screwing up. Too many teams plus lack of talent (especially pitching, the Cubs and Rangers bullpens did about the worst job possible tonight, rangers gave up 8 in the 9th and the Cubs blew a 5 run lead to lose 10-9) plus lobsided teams equals bad baseball.
 
I stopped watching baseball years ago (1980's) except for AAA and AA teams. Seems that the 'farm' leaguer's play harder so they can get to the majors and loaf...
 
They had a chance on Monday to vote for a strike date. They held off. It appears they know that another strike would be the deathknell.
 
I heard to day that Aug 30th has been/will be set as a deadline but I can't find confirmation anywhere
 
Whether they strike or not, still doesn't change the fact that they are a bunch of whiny, lazy pissants more concerned about money than playing the game. I never was all that interested in baseball.
 
Talks are faltering and a strike date is now set -- Aug. 30. The baseball players union sets the date Friday after negotiations with MLB owners on a new collective bargaining agreement stall. It could be baseball's ninth work stoppage since 1972.
