On the same day AMD releases the Athlon MP 2000+ and Athlon 4 1600+ they have also unleashed the Athlon XP 2100+ on the Cebit crowd. Running at 1.73GHz the new XP is a mere 66MHz faster than the previous XP 2000+. The architecture remains unchanged, but this is one CPU that is guaranteed to make AMD see green. As you can see below, and may have already seen floating around the net, AMD is moving to a green PCB for their new organic packaging. Other than this change the XP 2100+ is identical to the previous Palomino core Athlons.

It's just 66 more mhz, what's the big deal? The green package?

Other than that, there's pretty much no difference between that and an Athlon XP 1.46 gig or 1.53 gig or 1.6 gig etc etc.

Besides the price, of course.
