Over 300 police cars in Bonn are off the road after their tanks were filled with diesel instead of petrol.

It's thought a problem with the police HQ's filling station machinery is to blame.

All the cars need an oil change and a new filter. Damage to the cars is estimated at nearly £60,000.

It's unclear how much the damage to the filling station machinery will cost to repair.

Germany's Express newspaper says police cars will have to use normal garages to get their petrol until the machinery is repaired.

I'll bet there was a lot of cussing in German going on.

Depends on whether or not those cars have catalytic converters on them now. I believe Europe...especially Germany...was looking into equipping ALL of their automobiles with cats in the late 80's and early 90's. That, coupled with a German cars finickiness, spells trouble.
