I have recurring dreams I shall prevent something terrible(varies from dream to dream) from happening but no matter what I do it always happens.

I never said it wasn't a classic. Have played a lot of both myself. My point is any game that have a MORE repetitive gameplay than that may be boring. The lack of a storyline doesn't help any better.
