Does the battery light come back on when the engine drops back below the magic RPM?
In my car (1981 Honda Accord with 1.8L CVCC engine, with P/S and A/C), the headlights will be at one brightness level when the engine is idling at 900 or so, but when it gets over 1100 or so RPM the headlights get brighter. It's all one brightness below 1100, and all one brightness above that, so they're no brighter at 3000 RPM than at 1200. It's done this at least since I got the car in July 1999, about 24,000 miles ago. The battery light has never came on at any time the engine was running. Should I be worried about the alternator yet?
