People seem to have forgotten, it is "We the People..." not "We the Federal Government..."
In my estimation, about 70% of what goes on in Washington DC is illegal. The Constitution spells out exactly what the Executive, Judicial & Legislative branches may do, not what the people mayn't. Things like Social Security are not expressly allowed under the Constitution , thus it is NOT A PROPER ROLE for the Federal government, but it is allowed.
The Cato Institute has published a pocket sized Constitution which it sells, for a buck, here. Take time to get it & read it or just click any of the links to the Constitution that are here.
Stop giving up our freedoms. Take back the American Government. Read the Bill of Rights.
As a matter of perspective, the 9th Amendment was put into play because Jefferson & Madison were afraid that the government would think, or rule in the future, that these were the ONLY rights allowed. They didn't even want a Bill of Rights because they thought that there was no need. The Constitution spells out the only things the federal government can do. Good thing it was included, huh?
