The unpredictable
Immortal creature from Everquest is killed
Sleeper Battle
11/17/03, 11:59 PST | Kwill

The talk around Norrath today is the battle on Rallos Zek that got The Sleeper (the dragon Kerafyrm) down to 27% health before he despawned in the midst of the battle. The Sleeper was supposedly unkillable, and had been buffed up since he was last released on various servers.
According to various guild message boards, three major guilds, Wudan, Ascending Dawn and Magus Imperialis Magicus in a 170 people zerg went for three hours and ten minutes against The Sleeper. During the fight, 60-70 people at a time were maintained in the zone, with the melees engaged on The Sleeper constantly being ressurected in. Many players followed along as the fight was heard "round the world" on at least 9 ingame server wide channels.

To give you some idea how hard this guy hits, here's a piece of a log from a fight:

[Sat Nov 15 21:24:23 2003] Kerafyrm hits Kryptopholus for 5199 points of damage.
[Sat Nov 15 21:24:36 2003] Kerafyrm hits Kazug for 6819 points of damage.
[Sat Nov 15 21:27:00 2003] Kerafyrm hits Dupre for 6999 points of damage.
[Sat Nov 15 21:42:51 2003] Kerafyrm shouts 'Begone insect, I have much slaying yet to do!'
[Sat Nov 15 21:42:51 2003] You have taken 19200 points of damage.
[Sat Nov 15 21:42:51 2003] You have been knocked unconscious!
[Sat Nov 15 21:42:51 2003] You have been slain by Kerafyrm!
Players were reporting that he hit for a maximum of 6999, and along with death touch procs. No resistable spells landed on him. Pets and arrows provided damage per second, along with a constant influx of melee characters.
Some players were sure that the GMs depopped The Sleeper as he got to low health. Rumor is that he is not supposed to be killed, and the script is broken, so they had to intervene. There is no evidence that the GMs deliberately despawned him -- it could have been written into the script itself that The Sleeper would despawn when he was down to a certain level of health. For their efforts, players involved was awarded 2 AA points. The zone was reset as if nothing had ever happened.
I've read it was supposed to have more than 1 billion hit points, but something went wrong it seems
