TAMPA, Florida (CNN) -- A single-engine private plane crashed Saturday into the 20th floor of the Bank of America building in downtown Tampa, police said.

A 15-year-old student pilot was at the controls of the plane when it took off from a Albert Whitted Municipal Airport in nearby St. Petersburg about 5 p.m., according to a spokesman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department.

There were no immediate reports on casualties or injuries as a result of the crash.

A Coast Guard helicopter had followed the Cessna plane because it left the airport without proper clearance, a Coast Guard spokesman said.

Commercial airports in both Tampa and St. Petersburg temporarily suspended operations following the incident.

the plot thickens.....

By VICKIE CHACHERE, Associated Press Writer

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The 15-year-old student pilot who crashed a small plane into a skyscraper wrote a note expressing sympathy for Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) and support for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, police said Sunday.

The short, handwritten note found in Charles Bishop's pocket said he acted alone, police Chief Bennie Holder said. The high school freshman had no apparent terrorist ties, Holder said.

``Bishop can best be described as a young man who had very few friends and was very much a loner,'' Holder said. ``From his actions we can assume he was a very troubled young man.''

This is a good reason why spanking should be allowed. If he had had his butt blistered a long time ago, he would know better than to do stuff like this.

It's not spanking that would've needed to happen. His parents taking responsibility and raising their kid right would've done the job. Spanking may have been a method of punishment, but in my opinion when the child is isolated enough to feel sympathy for a man who kills thousands of people, there's something wrong here.
