Sunday, October 21, 2001 - DataPlay's drive to replace the compact disc and change the way the world gets music will soon hit top speed.

Steve Volk founded DataPlay in November 1998 out of his frustration with the multiple storage formats used in consumer electronics.

The Boulder company recently showed analysts and investors for the first time a working music player that could read its highly anticipated recordable disc - which is just bigger than a quarter and can store up to five music albums.

Warp drive is probably the next thing to come out.;)

NIce idea that will never work. If the discs are that small, everybody will lose them & they'll be a marketing flop.

If they could make a cdrw that has a cd that is the size of a quarter and holds that much data that was affordable, I'd buy it in an instant. I bet many other people would too.

There are usb hardrives the size of you thumb on the market right now. I think they can only hold 64 or 128 mb. Those new cd's would be great for digital cameras.

I'd rather have a cd that is exactly the same size that it is today that holds 10+ hrs of music (ala mp3's on a cd). I'm thinking of picking up one of those TDK mojo's (not to be confused with mofo's, as a lot of us are fond of that word.) :smash:
