U.N. Orders Families Out of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Hundreds of U.N. staff members in Pakistan and India have been ordered to send their families home as fears grow of war between the nuclear-armed neighbors, a U.N. official said Saturday.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The State Department on Friday urged the 60,000 Americans in India, including hundreds of U.S. diplomats and their families, to leave the country because of a risk of conflict between India and Pakistan.


the truly scary part is also the hope for the future. as someone borought up on the radio yesterday, the years of peace is in direct relation to the number killed in the last conflict. should these two get into a nuke exchange, we could be looking at 50 years of peace. hmmmm......

Pakistan's president traded angry accusations with his Indian counterpart Tuesday and then said having atomic weapons implies they might be used — stoking fears the conflict over Kashmir will explode into full-scale war.
