Heterosexual Marriage

3000 years of recorded history being destroyed in less than a generation

Marriage, as an institution, is under attack. It has been for almost 40 years. Since the rulings came down, allowing no-fault divorce, our society has begun an unparalleled downward spiral. Abuse, infidelity, child endangerment and neglect, drug abuse, murder- all up. Not likely the sole burden of no-fault but that is a considerable factor, since it goes after the heart of a civilization. The Family.

It sounds like a repeat of “The Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire”. From family picnics to “Christian vs. Lion”. Leaders that moved society forward to politicians covering up lies with acts of war. From raising our children to hiring it done. The collapse of the Romans & the disintegration of the west are walking the same path. Destruction of the family lead to the fall. It will always lead the fall.

Marriage is the basis of all civilizations.. It suppresses the male trait to spread his seed, offering a safer & more domicile setting. The female is offered protection in trade for monogamy, ensuring a less hostile environment. The offspring, from a monogamous setting, are in less danger. Males, in much of the animal kingdom, are far more dangerous to unrelated “children”. Making monogamy a religious rite thus tying the two offered a greater base than the two separate. In time, governments sprang up, supplanting the clergy. Even government recognized the importance marriage to the greater good.

Marriage has one extolling purpose, to legitimize children. It offered legal & hierarchal rights, which could be traced in a patriarchal system. That is still used today. Daddy’s money goes to mommy. If mommy is dead, it is disbursed through his children. The step kids don’t count. (Is your will up to date?) It was (is?) used in Monarchies to determine which appointed lucky sperm would gain favor, gold & power. Even the Kings had to marry. Sometimes they had multiple wives & sometimes the spouse met an ill end & they were allowed to remarry.

Marry we did. Mesopotamians, Philistines, Romans, Celts, Germanic tribesmen, Chinese, Japanese, Aztec, Incan, Catholic, Jew, Muslim…all get married & not one, never in history, has recognized nor allowed homosexual unions.

Marriage is not a right. At one-point states required assorted tests before a marriage certificate would be issued. From the beginning of the United States, it has been controlled by the state.

Many American states enacted divorce legislation soon after Independence, in the 1780s and 1790s. Connecticut was the most liberal, permitting divorce for “…adultery, fraudulent contract, desertion for three years, or prolonged absence with a presumption of death.” In 1843, the state added two additional grounds for divorce: habitual drunkenness and intolerable cruelty. The Connecticut state legislature also dissolved marriages on other grounds by legislative action. In 1849, the courts were given sole responsibility for divorce, and grounds were extended to include “life imprisonment, any infamous crime involving a violation of the conjugal duty, and-most important-‘any such misconduct as permanently destroys the happiness of the petitioner and defeats the purpose of the marriage relation.’”

Anthropologist Kingsley Davis has said, "The unique trait of what is commonly called marriage is social recognition and approval ... of a couple's engaging in sexual intercourse and bearing and rearing children." Marriage scholar Maggie Gallagher says that "marriage across societies is a public sexual union that creates kinship obligations and sharing of resources between men, women, and the children their sexual union may produce."
Canadian scholar Margaret A. Somerville says, "Through marriage our society marks out the relationship of two people who will together transmit human life to the next generation and nurture and protect that life."
Another Canadian scholar, Paul Nathanson (who is himself a homosexual), has said, "Because heterosexuality is directly related to both reproduction and survival, ... every human society has had to promote it actively. ... Heterosexuality is always fostered by a cultural norm" that limits marriage to unions of men and women. He adds that people "are wrong in assuming that any society can do without it." In the past homosexuality was illegal. It was also considered a psychosis. The psychiatric label has since been removed. In many states the laws banning homosexual contact have been overridden by the courts or overwritten by the various legislatures. However, the acts of an adult or the consensual acts of multiple adults, in the privacy of their home, is or can be the concern of the state. The Constitution does not provide for a right of privacy. Laws have priority over privacy. Examples would include illicit drug use, “assisted suicide” or bestiality.

The argument that not recognizing homosexual marriage denies Constitutional protections of a minority group is both assuming & incredibly rude. There is not one homosexual in America that is being denied the privilege to marry. The partner they chose is what is limited, the same with heterosexuals. Those who believe this is equivalent need to read. Start Loving vs. Virginia. If that isn’t enough, a large list of minority rulings is provided here. The minorities ought to be outraged by the comparisons between their plight & what the homosexuals are complaining about.

Homosexual marriage will not affect my heterosexual marriage. Today. It will diminish the sanctity of an eons old bond between men & women. It will be one more step in the battle to destroy the family. It is nothing more than a power grab, as (name forgotten) was happy to point out recently on NPR, the homosexuals are not in need of marriage, there are groups who only wish to break down the institutions held sacred by society..

Twenty-five years ago, they began by making divorce commonplace. Today they want homosexual marriages. In 10 years polygamy, in any variation, may be the headlines. In twenty years it will be dropping of the psychotic disorder of pedophilia. The people with these deep agendas have one thing that is almost impossible to beat. Time. If you forgot what time can do, look at the Grand Canyon. It started as a stream on some flat rock.
