I've managed to get the wife to buy a cdrw. What I want to know is what's the diff between IDE and E-IDE? Any ideas if this burner will work in my old P200?

IDE & E-IDE are the same. Laziness takes over. Always assuming you have the memory, it should work in your P200. Not at optimum performance though.

I got a new 48x24x48 working in auntie's pos gateway p3-450 a couple months ago...no probs for me using that archaic cpu. But I think you'll be on the verge of working/not working on the p200.
