Krug Champagne Grande Cuvee NV

Score: 93

Price: $150

One of the top Champagne houses, Krug's non-vintage wine is better than many houses vintage cuvées. This is distinctive and dramatic. New oak lends accents of vanilla and clove to the torrefaction flavors of coffee, nuts and citrus. It's all displayed on a full-bodied, powerful structure, ending in a tensile conflict between texture and flavor. Drink now through 2003. 35,000 cases made.

Cheers

I could never afford to pay those kinds of prices for a bottle of booze. I buy this cheap NA juice for $1.99 a bottle. I used to drink to get drunk, nowadays I just drink a little grape juice or whatever and play a few tunes on my stereo. It's just as much fun, and I maintain complete control. $150 to get drunk seems kind of steep to me.
