And how did you come to this decision?

Me: Probably a desktop palomino, because they consume less power, run cooler, and should be able to reach higher clock speeds :D

Actually I haven't really decided yet. My next "big" purchase will be either dual Palomino's or dual Northwoods, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the Northwoods.

Dual something AMD, DDR, that's all I know. it prolly won't be this year though, not till next summer at this rate.

A Desktop Palomino if it fits in my mobo (KT7A). If not, a T-Bird or Morgan.

Edit to corret stupidity: If a Palomino doesn't fit a Morgan will not too. Duh :o

You know what would r0x0r the m0nkey?

A whole house packed full of nothing but T-birds overclocked to 1.7...

Fuser Man

blah, blah, blah
T-bird

4 out of 5 nerds picked it.:D

I asked at HWC which one I should get. T-bird was the winner.
Hey I know nothing about computers. Turn on - play - turn off.

But they can do so much more! Inquire here :D

Noite: They will have the same socket format, they will just have a bit different architecture. Meaning, some current motherboards will still be able to use them (I think the KT7a is unofficially confirmed to already accept Palomino/Morgan CPUs)

majorDad: Want a thousand page novel to read while it loads Windows?

Q: Yup :D Palomino ~= Athlon 4, btw. There is another name for the Palomino, the Athlon MP. It is expensive though (don't know why... it should be cheaper to make than a T-bird) and is geared towards servers

Gonzo: That would probably be the Duron. You can get a 700mhz Duron for $24 (plus shipping) and then overclock them to near 1ghz

Or you could get a T-bird 1 gig for $81 plus shipping, and possibly overclock it to 1.33 or more

Interesting little ditty today in the Consumers Report-an AMD Athlon uses almost twice the power of a P-IV. Bad for Californians
