Video CD writing

I have a Windows Media Audio/Video file that I want to burn onto a disk so I can play it on my DVD player. I tried using Nero, but I'm told that the file is not supported or something.

What would you recommend (and don't say CloneCD, if you were thinking about it).

Anyway, thanks. Maybe I missed it but I don't think I saw any mention of WMAV conversion.

I guess it might also help to ask if anyone knows of any easy to use, free, video editing software. I tried Ulead VideoStudio 5, but I can't seem to get the hang of it so I made the movie with WinXP's movie maker.
