major alert for us ... we have kids in the valley about an hour and a half away .. my mom lives right on the water .. our office is right on the water ... such is the life, facing natural disasters living on a rock in the middle of the Pacific.

At least it's not that european coast island that they're expecting to split in two and create a wave 600 meters high, and 20 kilometers long, headed straight for miami.

Well, that's the chances you're willing to take for building so close to the fricken' ocean.

-and that's the same for all the idiots who come here and build close to the volcano, then bitch and moan about their homes being in the path of lava.

Close to the volcano?? You might have missed the fact that the entire freaking place is a volcano. Several vertical miles of volcano, for that matter.

Yes, the entire island is a volcano but the chances of your getting your house burned by lava is way way way higher if you build right in the active area - the other side of the island is not at immediate risk because the flow from an active area won't reach there ..

No. The other side of the island is at imminent rask of colapse.
