Porn won't go away!! Help!!!

Hi Guys!!

Well, I am sure this thread may have to be moved, but I am hoping this gets lots of input where it is :)

I keep getting this pop-up porn/chat/whatever on my computer, even when I am not surfing. I have kids that see this and it's pissin' me off to no end!!!:mad: Then, when I try to exit, it has to gall to try to install some program on my computer too!!! :chainsaw:

I have cleaned out cookies, temp internet files... I can't figure out how to rid my machine of this evil! :banghead:

To the person who did this---> :screwyou: :smash3: :biggun:

Anyone have any advise on how I can get rid of this?

When you delete your temp Internet files make sure you choose to "Delete all offline content". Check your secutity settings as well and ensure to set them to the Default Level. This stuff can be checked and set in the Internet Options in the Control Panel.

I don't know :confused: I was dl'ing stuff from Bearshare, do you think I could have gotten it there?

Either that or someone was looking at porn? Wasn't me! My kids have parental lock on thier desktops...?

I tried Ad-aware and the stoooopid ad STILL popped up. :(

Is it happening out of the blue or is it happening when you visit a specific site. Check you add/remove applet and see if you can find any unknowns in there.

It happens out of the blue. I check what's running in the background by hitting ctrl + alt + del .... nothing... looked in add/remove programs.... nothing...

I am going loco!!!

tools/internet options-make sure your homepage is what you want it to be, then start/run/msconfig/startup, uncheck anything with .reg or regedit in it & restart

Do you remember installing anything else from between the time that your computer was fine to the time this started happening?

Yup, scanned for viruses.

Hmm.. I downloaded games for my son from Bearshare. It started happening after that. I find the files in my Temp. folder all the time. Clean the folders, dump trash, pops up out of the blue again even if I don't use my computer after the cleaning.

I don't know how it works but I had a problem something like it a while back. Something called Tinybar added a search bar on my IE browser. I ended up reinstalling the os to get rid of it. Now that I think of it. This thing was putting advertising that was non-porn on my computer.

I'd say check the Add/Remove for this program. Check the StartUp folder on the Menu delete a shortcut it may have placed there. Next check the StartUp tab in MSconfig (START/RUN/Msconfig). Look for this program's exe, uncheck the box, restart computer. This prevents it from auto starting every bootup.
Meanwhile it can be one of those programs that dial up long distance phones numbers without you knowing, until the phone bill arrives

I'm looking for a way to get rid of this stuff on my girlfriend's computer, too. The sickanal.com, etc. ads like to pop up when she goes to hotmail. Ad-aware has done nothing. I need to get rid of nimbda on her system, but the ads were there before then. I've already been through msconfig.

I had the same problem, but i think i got it from downloading things from elitehackers.com whothout nav real time protect on.it said something like ras not installed, it minimize my games, really pissed me off, i tried ad-aware, virus scans, deleting temp files, cookies, ect.ect., so i was like, the hell with it, and i formated....well, it never came back, hehe

i used to get these too!!!
i got it from kazaa though. i uninstalled it and started usin kazaa lite. i think u should do the same wit bearshare.:snooze: :whip:
