What's the diff between an Asus A7A 266 and a Asus A7M 266 motherboard?

and it to me like you would a four year old.

Thanks

The Asus A7M uses the AMD 761 chipset, while the Asus A7A uses the ALi ® MAGiK1 M1647 Chipset.

While the MagiK1 allows you to use PC133 OR DDR, it's the only advantage it has, IMO. I'd get the A7M if you're going DDR.

Thanks guys

I was planing on getting the A7M, I just wanted to know the diff.

Now another question.
A supplier has listed
DDR 266-256MB &
DDR 266-256MB with ECC.

WTF is ECC and what makes it $15.00 more?

ECC is error checking for RAM. You don't need it (and, in fact, I'm not entirely sure this board will accept it). Get the regular stuff.
