Look at what Intel is handing out about AMD

Intel must be genuinely scared of AMD if they resort to using tactics like that

What can you expect from Intel, they had an ad campaign with blue guys

Does anyone besides Intel use that benchmarking software for processor testing? Also, people forget that if a PIII were clocked to 1.5GHz, it would spank the crap out of the 1.5GHz P4... am I right?

Intel knows that very well... why do you think they phased out the P3 so quickly?

In fact, the 1.26 gig P3 (Tualatin core) is quite a formidable competitor to the 1.5 gig P4. Read: The damn thing mops the floor with that piece of crap.

Intel created competition for their own flagship when they continued the P3 line past 1.0 gig with the Tualatin

true, but no XP or Tualie can go up against a 2.5GHz+ northwood, the pentium IV is starting to make sense as clockspeeds ramp higher, the higher bus speeds expected soon will bring it even more performance BUT if the K8 is as good as we hope, then Intel betta do sumptin fast! :D

No wonder the benchmarks show faster. The P4 is using PC800 RDRAM (faster than ddr, isn't it?)

An XP overclocked to about 1.8-2.0 could whomp a P4 2.5A. The Palomino can in fact continue beyond 1.73 ghz but AMD has other plans for the XP. The Thoroughbred core will prove to be quite the contender, especially having a .13 micron process, now it will be able to overclock like hell.

RDRAM is faster than DDR by quite a long shot. It's usually 100mhz ram, in QDR operation, but there's a 133mhz variant around the corner. At least, I think there is. I don't catch up that easily on the Intel side of things.

So it makes sense the Intel would win. Let's slap some DDR in it, and watch it suck more than a porn star can.

The man, thas rite THE MAN!!!!!!!!!

well phrased. but the A series of intel (1.6A, 2.4A so on) can overclock very well and very stable. not to flame or nethin but i would always go for intel just cuz it was the first, it just seems right.(sorry)
AMD~~~>:snooze: :whip: <~~~~Intel

Why go Intel when AMD is far cheaper and provides just as much power, on lower clocked processors?

Something
not really, the 1.6A can do some whopin speeds that an XP can never beat ;) some XP's are not cheaper than 1.6A's here, if you're overclockin, the 1.6A is the right route, if not, XP then :)

That argument might have been right a few months ago, but since the Northwood, Intel is leapin away, c'mon K8!! :D btw the .13 mircon core from AMD ain't all that better, might be good for up to round 2.2GHz (could be wrong, but thats the way it looks now) and the XP is rumored to be a .18 and .13 hybrid already, so only K8 looks to be in the runnings with future northwoods.
Hey, i'm gunning for AMD too, but gotta give credit where credit's due! :D

credit isn't due. :)

after making so many shitty P4s, it's about time they got something right. i think all current owners should get a refund.
