I spoke too soon

I just restarted the computer for the fifth time and it now says

"While initializing device PTVCD:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer"

I did, then it restarted in safe mode.

So I restarted the computer again and I got the same error message.

Any ideas?

Complete computer transfers rarely really go over well with Windows. You can keep trying to boot it up but I really doubt you'll have any luck. The only option I see left if there is no problem with the hardware is a complete reinstallation of the OS. The truth hurts sometimes

At least you can back up the data files from safe mode. You may be forced to do that and then format/reinstall.

I've managed to get it to start up, but still having a few problems.
It shows a CDrom but not in device manager. I can't install the modem as the CDrom won't read all of the CD. F***in' piece of crap. Just found out the floppy won't work.

How do I reinstall Windows 95 from the beginning with out losing all this guys data?

The cd-rom is probably not Atapi compliant. Better back up those files
