I HATE MS

So, here I am, happily cruising along with 2K runing smoothly(mostly), and I start screwing around with Linux on another HDD. #2 is set as slave, BIOS is set to boot to "C only" & I have to do something to the second drive cause Linux won't install. "Typical" I says to meself, and I decide to hook it up on the fly(Don't try this at home). It doesn't show up, so screw it, I'm goning to bed...
Well, lo & behold, this morning I get up, do my stuff & decide to see if any good posts have happened at Xibase since last night. Nope, not yet, so I go take care of some bidness & come back to play around with Linux-and as I start my comp-it gets to the desktop & crashes-over & overm this happens. I'm changing CPUs, pulling & moving memory("just in case I can get lucky", I says to meself).....
Thankfully, Bill Gates & crew said, during the first good install I got out of 2k-"lets make an Emergency Repair Disc together", they says to me. So, having exhausted all other options, it's time to boot to CDRom, wait for the slow assed thing to get to "Do you Wanna Repair this POS or just reinstall it? Well, Mr Gates, I believe you should repair it, please. & Yes, btw, I DO have an ERD-how about that.
And wouldn't you know the ERD says to me, it says "HAHAHAHA, you lunk head-we were kidding, you're FUBAR-the boot sector is damaged beyond our inability to help & you're screwed-Thank you for using Microsoft."

So it's back to good old BSOD specialist-98SE, which will allow me to burn cd's & play games too-god I hope XP gets REAL good, REAL fast, or I can at least learn Linux programming while I sleep....I've had ENOUGH of MS's crappy, so-called Operating Systems. Linux Gods, save me-please

thank for allowing to me to vent into your eyeballs & laugh as you recall some wasted weekend thanks to our friend, Bill G. :smash:

I've had years of experiences with messed up MS os's. After a while, you don't even think about it. If you have a messed up boot sector, one thing to try is replacing the mbr. I use a program called aefdisk that is available at download.com. It may not be ms's fault if you installed Linux on the second drive after installing windows. Linux prolly overwrote the original mbr to install it's boot program.

My main gripe was simple-it was doing fine & I liked the stability of 2K, then without warning it collapsed. It was just a "reflection of days past" type thread.
I couldn't get aefdisk-I had no way to the internet, it's okay though, at least 98 installs quickly & has other uses-like burning CD's works & my games work-I'll hope XP is the "saviour" MS says- :hmm: :vomit: :eureka: :cocktail:
