Hell yes you should join back up.

Running two clients installed to separate directories is still the only option.

Hell yeah, running 2 instances in 2 seperate directories is easy peasy (make sure you let each client get it's own cpu id number). And then put a nonet shortcut for each client in to the startup group. All done
