    Did Hell just freeze over?

It won't ruin Microsoft. Linux needs to become much easier to use, install and administer before it even makes a dent in the desktop market. Even if Linux were to become a major player on the desktop scene, Microsoft would figure out a way to make money. Despite everything else, they still...

    Cable modem Config manager

Huge, in response to your question, every network is setup different. The minimum you will usually need (from your ISP, either cable or DSL) is an IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server....but that's only if everything is static. Many ISP's (like mine, I have a cable modem...

Slow broadband speeds in Windblows? Kill icons and active desktop

200 kbps seems pretty slow for a broadband connection. I *always* test at over 1mbps even at peak times, sometimes as high as 3mbps. And that's actuall transfer rates, taking overhead into consideration.

    Video conferencing

Only for a bit at IU, but I wasn't using h.323 (is this the protocol you will be using?), it was a proprietary system set up by Ameritech going analog over fiber connections. We are looking into it here at work too, I would be very interested in hearing what problems/successes you have...
