Is there any reason not to install 2K over ME?

As oppposed to formatting the drive and installing 2K clean? I do not intend to use NTFS anyway...any hints about the subject?

Fresh install, it'll clean out all the bullshit left behind by WinMe

I would rather install it to another folder instead of upgrading it... it allows me to go back to my previous operating system if win2k gets gored up the anus

You can't actually upgrade w2k over me, unless you are looking for a whole lot of problems. 2k came before me and therefore was not built to be upgaded over that operating system.

The Win9x series of OSs have a habit of getting remarkably cluttered with all sorts of junk. A new install is a chance to make a fresh start & you wouldn't want to poison your new version of 2k by leaving some Win9x lying aorund underneath it...
