if i put a 1.4 Ghz T-Bird on my KT7A(max 1.2) without upgrading the BIOS? Would it work as a 1.2 or not work at all?

It should be fine, the 1.2 you might see in the manual is just because 1.2 may have been the fastest chip at the time. 1400Mhz is 10.5x133 if its a 133 chip and the 100fsb Athlons were at 1.2 long before so you should'nt have any problems for 10.5x as it most likely has up to 12.5x. Also since Athlons were'nt PR rated it should pick it up fine as a Thunderbird 1400Mhz. A word of caution however, IF this chip is a 100fsb (200DDR) chip i.e 14x100 then it must have no L1 Bridges intact (majority were sold with L1 uncut, so it might be a hard find).

Oh btw, if its a 1.4 100fsb you can't use it if the L1 bridges aren't gone, even if you try to run it at 10.5x133, simply because the14x multiplier with the L1 bridges intact would likely not boot at all. So basically your choices are : 1.4 100fsb without L1 bridges and 1.4 133fsb with or without L1 intact, don't matter.
