RAM problem?

Better Than You
Okay, I've been running my system with a 256MB stick of PC2100 for a while.

Recently I bought another 256MB and dropped it into the second RAM slot on my A7A266 board. When I did, I started getting freezes and random restarts so I took the old stick out and moved the new one into the first RAM slot. It is working fine like that, but when I put the old stick into the second RAM slot, I get the freezes and restarts.

Someone suggested that I should flash the BIOS and I plan to do that, but I'd like to see if there are any other suggestions.

I agree, flash the bios

Also you could try putting one stick in the second slot and nothing in the first to see if that slot is fried.

It's a horrible thought, I know, but sometimes you just gotta face reality

Some boards Dont like Dissimilar Ram sticks. Are they the same maker ,crucial or whatever ,do they both run at 2.5 cas?

You might try some manual settings in the bios for the ram ,they have settings for all 3 dimms seperate in most newer bios.
