Country music legend Johnny Cash has died at age 71, hospital officials in Nashville said.

Aortic dissection is big time. If I remember correctly, that's when your aorta actually seperates from the heart. Yikes, only 54!! And he just got a new tv show recently too. He didn't look like he was in such bad shape.

Johnny Cash on the other had was really sick. His wife died recently too and he was too frail to attend the MTV VMA's where they honored him with some kind of lifetime award. I can't help but wonder though, did MTV ever actually show a video of his??

I think so. On his last album (released almost a year ago now) he redid the Nine Inch Nails song Hurt. Excellent, IMO. I saw the video on MTV or VH1 a few times (albeit relatively rare).

Yeah, they play the song on 105.7 The Point, out of St. Louis, it's normally a metal station.

I'm not a big fan of Johhny Cash, but I can see this as being a big loss for the music industry.

As for John Ritter...I think that the loss of such a strong physical comedian is tragic. The fact that he was only 54 at the time, a father of 4 and married, makes it far worst.
