hehe. Yeah, it can be a little harsh at first.

IMHO. The only two things I would consider changing are:

Padding out the two paragraphs of text that are laying up against the links box.

Move the left links box under the right one maybe in a frame and let those linux distro logo's show up at the top and move the Google search box to the top to catch the attention of the casual passerby

Text boring... picture good, ugh.

make the link font a little darker. On very bright screens it's a little hard to read. Pad the text (including the news) about 10 pixels on each side, the page looks a little scrunched together as it is

That's about all I can think of. Excellent job d00d.
