Christmas Present part 2

I got my mother a laptop for Christmas, and the USB port is just toying with me. It gives error 29, which basically means that its BIOS isn't using an IRQ, which it needs. If I change its drivers, that error goes away, but a new one pops up when it finds new hardware (USB Root Hub) that is immediately disabled. WTF? Can anyone please help me out on this one?

Sounds like you need to set it in the bios somewhere to
assign irqs to the usb.

You got anymore info on what this thing is?
OS, brand, processor, bios type....

Windows 98
Panasonic CF-35
Pentium III 233 MHz

I obviously didn't get it for it's performance, but I at least expected to be able to use the USB port to get it started with the files she'll need, mainly small stuff like spreadsheets and databases, but she also wanted to keep those programs, she despises the Office programs.

Is that 98 Fe, or SE.
Because if it's FE you may have a very hard time finding the right driver.
Did it come with the original setup disc?

SE, sorry. I found a patch that was meant to resolve an issue between it and an AMD processor, but it didn't help.
